I recently spent a wonderful few days in the sun on Hamilton island (read my review on the Whitsunday Apartments that we stayed in here). I packed this one shoulder floral dress for a special dinner date with my love. I know you don’t see me ‘dressed up’ on the blog very often (last time here), but every now and the it’s fun to put a little more effort into your outfit. I had originally planned to take these photos at the marina among the multi-million dollar yachts but the wind was blowing a gale and I gave up fighting my hair and my dress after about 6.5 nanoseconds and instead opted for the relatively protected area near the entrance to the yacht club. I’m in Melbourne for work today and it’s freezing but my photos were taken on the weekend when I was in the sunny Whitsundays. The Hamilton Island yacht club is a special place to watch a magical sunset with a wine glass in hand and we spent a few evenings at the Bommie Bar doing just that. The deck provides a perfect spot to curl up in a comfy chair and watch the boats passing through the marina. Relaxing in the late afternoon sun calls for something super comfy and this casual jumpsuit fits the bill perfectly. Hey from Hamilton Island! We only arrived a few hours ago and I was not intending to post from here today but you may have heard that Sydney has had some rain over the last week. The destruction is widespread and many of my fellow Sydney Siders are still assessing the damage. We are safe and well but the deluge meant taking photos was out of the question so I made a last minute decision to hold off until we arrived. It didn’t give me a lot of time but I got it done (sortof!). It’s been 13 years since I last stepped foot on Hamilton Island and it is just as beautiful as I remember. The Whitsundays is a magical part of the world and I look forward to sharing more with you over the coming weeks but for now it’s all about my ‘resort style’. If you could see me you would know I am sitting here making rabbit ear motions as I write that, mostly because I’m pretty sure I have no clue what resort style really is, I mean I’m not wearing a kaftan after all. Hello again and welcome back to another Fresh Fashion Forum link up. Today is officially the first day of winter in Australia and I’m dying on the inside at the thought of the three months of bleak weather ahead. Every year at about this time I entertain fanciful thoughts of either a) hibernating and taking to my bed for the entire season or b) escaping for three months to somewhere tropical and warm. Unfortunately if I want to continue to eat, neither are very good choices. Every now and then a girl has to treat herself with something a little bit special. That might mean a forbidden morsel of deliciousness, a few hours of me time in a candlelit bath with a do not disturb sign firmly pasted to the door or a luxury splurge. This weeks monochrome check coat outfit plays to my love of black and white. There is nothing quite as classic and it’s so easy to wear. The hero of the outfit is of course the monochrome check coat. This is a fairly new addition to my wardrobe and the it’s the first time the weather has been cool enough to wear it. This is an ideal trans-seasonal item perfectly suited to a Sydney Autumn. I’m obsessed with destroyed denim. And I mean seriously obsessed. I’ve stalked my regular online haunts for months trying to find the perfect pair of destroyed jeans. I thought my search was over when I stumbled on these slim boyfriend jeans while I was researching my recent Fashion Lane post and they were reduced from $525 to $112 to sweeten the deal!
