It’s week 35 of my series The Wednesday Pants (TWP) where I feature a different white pants outfit every week for a year. Whoa it was cold in Sydney today!!! Despite the fact that winter is still a couple of weeks off we sure got a taste of it today and we are gearing up for our coldest night of the year so far. Suffice to say the heater is cranking as I write this and my house is toasty warm. I wore my London Fog trench for the first time today and while I absolutely love the pale purple lining if truth be told it did not hold up well to the bone chilling winds. Maybe if I had of added an extra layer underneath it would have been better but it may just be time to start dragging out the big guns in the coat department. Read on for all the details …
The Wednesday Pants #34 – Mellow Yellow
It’s week Thirty Four of my series The Wednesday Pants (TWP) where I feature a different white pants outfit every week for a year. So did you hear a very special little girl was born in the UK this week? You had? Oh right I thought maybe you hadn’t given it so was low key and all. I’m loving the name and if this new Charlotte is anything like the littlest Enabler they are in for a wild ride. I always wanted a little girl. Not that I don’t love my boys to bits but a little girl would have been the icing on the cake. When I was pregnant with my guys and girls names were running through my head I always fancied Mackenzie. Mr SFH was vehemently against this. He thought Mackenzie Smith was more suited to a law firm than a little girl. He favoured Beryl. Yep you heard right Beryl! This was under some misguided belief that if she had an unfortunate name (sorry to any Beryl’s out there!) there would be less likelihood that teenage boys would be lined up around the block to date her. Not sure that I agree with that logic but that’s one fight we never ended up having. The odds were never in my favour with his genes. There is nary a girl on the family tree but we are hoping that my FSIL will produce a niece to add to our brood of four nephews and break the drought. It’s an early post today as I will be on a plane home tonight. I feel like my life has been a whirlwind of planes and hotel rooms for the last couple of months but after this trip I may be able to ease back a little. I’m finally featuring a couple of new items this week … Yay! I love how the sunny yellow of this coat works with the grey. I’ve had it for a little while but it hasn’t really been cold enough to wear it until now. I’m slightly worried I’m not going to be warm enough in this thin top in the office though when I whip the coat off so I have snuck a cardi in my luggage just in case. BTW I’m just a tad annoyed that Mr SFH didn’t give me the heads up that I had a massive kink in the back of my hair that needed a serious GHDing. When I looked through the photos and called him on it his response was that he thought it was meant to be like that. Seriously? Men! Read on for all the details …
The Wednesday Pants #33 – Twin Set
It’s week Thirty Three of my series The Wednesday Pants (TWP) where I feature a different white pants outfit every week for a year. I’m in a dark mood today as I ponder three world events that have dominated the headlines this week. The Nepalese earthquake, the execution of two Australians in Bali by firing squad and the violence in Baltimore in the wake of the death of a young man in custody. It seems at times like there really is no good news anymore. Closer to home, after about 8 straight weeks of shopping my closet I’m all out of inspiration. I’m feeling very deflated as I write this, I’m not happy with the outfit (it looked better it my mirror than in these photos!) or the photos. This outfit reminds me of the old joke “What’s black and white and red all over? A Newspaper”. Pretty lame I know but that fits my mood right about now. It’s all a bit blah and I sort of feel like I’m channeling my Nana’s twin set. As my hubby would say “They can’t all be winners babe!” On top of this I’m coming down with a cold and feel very ordinary. The only good thing I have to say this week is that I did have a lovely visit from the resident black swans as we were snapping these pics. Read on for all the details …
The Wednesday Pants #32 – Grey On Grey
It’s week thirty two of my series The Wednesday Pants (TWP) where I feature a different white pants outfit every week for a year. TWP is going up early this week because I’m in Melbourne (again!) and will be on a plane home tonight so this has to happen before I head off to work for the day. Well I’m hoping to be on a plane home tonight. It is seriously looking touch and go at the moment given what they are dubbing “the worst storm this century” currently has all fights to and from Sydney airport grounded and people who don’t have to travel by air are being urged not to. I have already received a text message this morning from the airline changing my flight to later this evening. Winds speeds are over 100kph and the rain is relentless. The impact is immense with homes and property destroyed, severe flooding, power outages, our iconic harbour closed and lives lost before their time. I take my hat off to our wonderful emergency services personnel who are doing everything they can to help all those affected. My thoughts are with my family and everyone else back home, Stay safe! It’s hard to believe that only 800ish klms away the weather can be so different with Melbourne expecting 11c – 20c and not a drop of rain. Of course being down here meant I had to be super organised (again!) and take the photos on Sunday at home. Given the theme of today is Whiter Shade of Pale (and yes of course the Procol Harlum song is background music as I type this! – Do you think it really is about a drug overdose?) I really wanted to find a very neutral background so we were back at the station taking photos again. You would think I would have had enough of being there for the weekday commute without visiting on a Sunday wouldn’t you? I can guarantee you the car park is never that empty on a weekday morning and finding a legal spot is akin to looking for a needle in a haystack after 7.30 am. The weather is cooling down considerably and I cracked out a chunky sweater for the day and because this is Melbourne, the city responsible for the phrase four seasons in one day, I’m carrying a rain coat just in case the forecast is wrong. Let’s hope I don’t need it! Read on for all the details …
The Wednesday Pants #31 – Loubi Love
It’s week thirty one of my series The Wednesday Pants (TWP) where I feature a different white pants outfit every week for a year. I had another early start this morning so I could get these photos done as soon as the hubs got home from a night shift before I headed off to work. I have been the wife of a shift worker for about 20 years and sometimes it really does mess with your ability to be able to spend quality any time together. Afternoon shifts are the worst, he’s asleep when I leave for work and arrives home after I’m in bed for the night. We may sleep in the same bed for a few hours but you’d hardly call it quality time. Just a normal day in the office today and I’m wearing my “sensible shoes”, a very practical pair of Christian Louboutin’s (read between the lines:- lower, thicker heel with an almond toe for comfort). When you’re walking on red soles nothing else matters. Read on for all the details …
The Wednesday Pants #30 – 50 Shades of Blue
It’s week thirty of my series The Wednesday Pants (TWP), where I feature a different white pants outfit every week for an entire year. Even though the shopping ban has lifted, I am shopping my closet (again!!!) as none of my recent purchases have arrived. I’m in Melbourne for work today which always adds to the complexity of getting TWP done. I follow a lot of fashion blogs and the photos always look serene and polished so I found my self wondering if what goes on behind the scenes to get those perfect posts up is as crazy as my life is! That said, TWP has never been about posting fab looking outfits that are staged for photo perfection but rather, I want to accurately reflect what I am actually wearing on the day. All day! This is in part why I go to great pains to recreate the photos exactly when I can’t take them on the actual day. So this week I thought I would share just a little about what went on behind the scenes to create this page. Read on for all the details …
The Wednesday Pants #29 – Black Pearls
It’s week twenty nine of my series The Wednesday Pants (TWP) where I feature a different white pants outfit every week for a year. Wow it’s April! Did you fool anyone today? You know the best thing about it being April? My shopping ban is over!!! WooHoo!!! I’m actually pretty proud of the fact that for a whole month (Bali excluded!) I haven’t bought a single fashion related item and during this time I managed to create five different TWP outfits by shopping my closet. Go me! Anyhoo back to the topic at hand. This week it’s all business on the blog with button down black and pearls. Read on for all the details …
The Wednesday Pants #28 – Dark Day Colour
It’s week twenty eight of my series The Wednesday Pants (TWP) where I feature a different white pants outfit every week for a year. I came home from Bali refreshed and relaxed only to be hit just hours later with the heartbreaking news that we had lost a family member very unexpectedly and way before her time. While I was back at work today, I struggled to focus to be honest and TWP were the last thing on my mind. During this difficult time I’m attempting to keep to our regular routine as much as possible, including my blogging activities as a coping mechanism. At such a dark time I felt the need to inject a little colour into my life the only way I could think of. Read on for all the details …
