Professional photographs are a wonderful lasting reminder of an epic trip and I booked a Hoi An photographer for our recent group trip to preserve the memories. I travelled to Hoi An with a group of 10 other ladies so getting great photos where all of us looked good was no easy feat. It was definitely time to call in the professionals. After doing my research I decided to book through Localgrapher and I was thrilled with the results.
Localgrapher Overview
Localgrapher knows that finding a local photographer when you travel is challenging without local knowledge and they have made it their mission to help. Localgrapher offers a single place where you can find professional photographers in more than 900 of the world’s most popular destinations. Localgrapher offers seven packages to choose from. The gold, silver and bronze photo packages all offer 4 day turn around and 2 years back up of your photos, but the time allocated and number of photos provided differ. Localgrapher also offers video shoots, workshops and tours, but if none of these packages suit your needs you can always book a custom package. As we had a large group we chose the gold package which cost USD$500.
Choosing A Hoi An Photographer
Localgrapher has six Hoi An photographers on their books. When you click on each of their profiles you are provided with a bio which gives you an insight into the photographers likes and styles to help you choose. I recommend looking through their portfolio of past work to help you narrow down the field. After studying the profiles I decided to book with Thinh. I was drawn to his natural shots and his subjects looked like they were having a lot of fun which is exactly the vibe I was going for.
Booking A Hoi An Photographer
Booking with Localgrapher couldn’t be simpler. Once you have chosen your photographer and your package simply complete your details in the online form and hit submit. Localgrapher will then email you a confirmation with a link to pay your deposit. The remainder is payable after your photo shoot and before your photos are delivered. You can rest easy when you book with Localgrapher as every booking comes with a 100% money back guarantee. If you are not happy with your photos you can request a refund within 7 days subject to their terms and conditions.
Hoi An Photo Locations
Hoi An is a stunning part of the world and there are many suitable locations in the area for a photo shoot. We knew that we wanted to start at the beach and Trinh suggested Victoria Beach as it was quieter than the more popular Ao Nang. It was perfect. We had originally planned to also head into Hoi An’s UNESCO listed Ancient Town to grab a few more shots with the iconic lanterns in the background, but changed our mind and decided to spend all our time at the beach. Other possible locations in Hoi An are the Han River, the markets or Son Tra Mountain. If you are not sure where you want to go, your photographer will provide suggestions to assist.
Our Experience With Localgrapher in Hoi An
Our group of 11 flew into Da Nang on Bangkok Airways the day before our photo shoot. Thinh had made contact a few weeks before we arrived in Hoi An and arranged to meet us in the lobby of the TTC Premium Hotel where we stayed. This post will help if you are still wondering where to stay in Hoi An. He arrived with his lovely wife on their scooter and was right on time. I had contemplating booking a private driver to whisk us to our destination, but I decided against it and we called three taxis to get us to the beach. We had originally intended to take photos at two different locations, but the logistics of getting us all to another location and then back to the hotel were a bit much and we decided to use all our time at Victoria Beach. We arrived just before sunset to take advantage of golden hour and thankfully the beach was almost deserted. I had briefed Thinh earlier that we would require a mix of group and individual shots and he was very accommodating. Some of the poses were our own and some were under Thinh’s direction. Thinh was very generous with his time and stated from the outset that he wouldn’t adhere religiously to the 100 minutes allowed with our package, but rather he would take as long as needed to ensure we got the best out of the shoot. When he called it a wrap we headed back to the car park and thankfully there were exactly three taxis hanging around waiting for rides. Localgrapher guarantees to deliver your photos within 4 days of your shoot and ours came in on day three. We were in Hanoi at that point and were heading home the next day so I waited until I got back to Sydney to check them out. We had 60 photos included in our package and it was a breeze to download them. The rest of the group were all back in the US at that point and I had to email everyone a copy of their photos 4 at a time to get around size issues. It was a little tedious, but I got it done.
The Final Word On Our Hoi An Photographer
Our photo shoot in Hoi An was one of the highlights of our two weeks in Asia. Trinh was amazing to work with and put our group at ease to get the best out of us. The photos he delivered truly captured the essence of our girls trip. If you like our photos as much as I do, book your very own photo session now!
