16 of The World’s Best Pizzas (Outside Of Italy)

March 12, 2018

Worlds Best Pizzas: Trattoria Altrove Coron Pepperoni Pizza

Sometimes you just need pizza. During a recent trip to the Philippines I found myself less than enamored with the local cuisine. After a quick flight from Cebu to El Nido on AirSWIFT Airlines we landed hungry and decided only Pizza would hit the spot. We weren’t expecting much from the small town but were blown away by Trattoria Altrove. It got me to thinking about where the world’s best pizzas can be found. Outside of Italy of course! I put the call out to my fellow bloggers to nominate their favourite pizza and I chose the top 15 for this post. Read on for all the details …

Vietnam Airlines Review: Flying Economy Class on VN772 SYD-SGN

March 7, 2018

Flights To Fancy: Vietnam Airlines International Economy Class Review - Vietnam Airlines B787 Cabin

I realised as I started writing this Vietnam Airlines review that it’s been a while since I have flown a full service airline. In fact, the last time was a fabulous flight in first class on an Emirates A380, so I was as pleased as punch when I got a great deal on Vietnam Airlines economy class tickets from Sydney to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). Up until recently the Vietnam Airlines B787 Dreamliner didn’t have much competition on the Sydney to HCMC route (VN772), but just after our trip Jetstar started flying direct from Sydney to Saigon at a much lower price point. So is it worth paying a few extra dollars for Vietnam Airlines 787 economy class? Read all the details of my Vietnam Airlines review to make up your own mind …

Coron Island Hopping Tour: Barracuda Lake, Twin Lagoon Coron & More

March 4, 2018

Coron Island Hopping: Barracuda Lake Coron

A Coron Island hopping tour is ‘THE’ thing to do in Palawan in the Philippines. After doing lots of research on tours in Palawan, we knew we wanted to visit Barracuda Lake Coron, Kayangan Lake Coron, Twin Peaks Coron and Twin Lagoon Coron but we couldn’t find any half day Coron boat tours that covered them all. We didn’t want to compromise and book a full day tour which included a raft of other attractions. The solution? Design our very own bespoke private island hopping Coron boat tour! Everything You Need To Know About Booking An El Nido Coron Ferry

February 25, 2018

Montenegro Lines Fast Ferry at El Nido Port at sunrise

Travellers to Palawan Philippines are invariably faced with the dilemma of whether to visit El Nido or Coron. Both islands are stunning so the struggle to chose is real. We deliberated over the Coron vs El Nido debate for ages before deciding to do both. There are no direct flights between El Nido and Coron so the next step was to find the best El Nido Coron ferry. After evaluating all the options, we chose the Montenegro Lines fast ferry. Our El Nido to Coron ferry departed very early from the main El Nido port. So early that I really wish I had planned better and switched our itinerary to take the Coron to El Nido ferry instead. Regardless of the direction you choose to travel, there are some things to consider before booking your ticket on Montenegro Lines. Read on for all the details …

5J40 – A Cebu Pacific Cheap Flight From Sydney To Manila SYD-MNL

February 20, 2018

Cebu Pacific 5J40 - Cheap Flight From Sydney to Manila

As much as I loved our fabulous experience flying first class on Emirates A380, I simply can’t afford to splurge on luxury air travel every time we fly. For our first trip to the Philippines, we chose Cebu Pacific because they offered a really cheap flight from Sydney to Manila and money talks. Sure the Cebu Pacific baggage allowance was minimal, the Cebu Pacific inflight entertainment was non-existent and I had to wrangle with an initially unhelpful Cebu Pacific customer service agent but did the savings outweigh the compromises? Read on to find out exactly what it’s like on flight 5J40 …

I Found The Best El Nido Pizza at Trattoria Altrove El Nido

February 13, 2018

Trattoria Altrove Coron Pepperoni Pizza

Chowing down on Pizza at Trattoria Altrove El Nido was not part of the grand plan for my visit to Palawan Philippines. When I travel I make it a rule to eat local. I’ve enjoyed Bun Bo Nam Bo in Hanoi, Croque Monsuier in Paris, Hangi in Rotorua, Beef Rendang in Kuala Lumpur (for breakfast!), Gang Kiew Wan Gai in Phuket, Frites Belges in Brugges (seriously yum!), Sepat Ayam in Legian, Paella in Barcelona (with lots of Sangria), Spanokopita in Santorini, Pork Pies in London and Poi in Oahu to name a few. OK I didn’t really enjoy the pork pies or the poi, but I did try them all the same. During my recent trip to the Philippines I studied many a menu filled with Filipino ‘delights’, but I failed to find anything I was excited to order. Food is one of life’s greatest pleasures and I have zero interest in eating something ordinary so I threw the rule book out the window and decided on Pizza. Our hunt for El Nido pizza lead us to Trattoria Altrove. Read on for all the details …

Sunlight Guest Hotel Solves The Where To Stay In Coron Dilemma

February 5, 2018

Lagoons Coron Palawan

I had a bit of a dilemma figuring out where to stay in Coron. Finding accommodation in Coron to support my mantra of travelling in luxury for less was more challenging than I anticipated. This was my first trip to the Philippines and I expected luxury hotels in Coron Palawan to be thick on the ground like other parts of Asia but sadly that was not the case. We only had two nights in Coron with lots to do so I started my search for places to stay in Coron in the city centre. After a quick glance at the options (and the lack lustre reviews!) and I expanded my search field to discover a new waterfront hotel minutes from the port. The Sunlight Guest Hotel Coron offered everything we needed and while not exactly a bargain by Asian standards, it certainly didn’t break the bank. Read on for all the details …

Cathedral Cove Kayak Tours is the Best Experience in the Coromandel

February 2, 2018

Fash Packing by SFH: Cathedral Cove Kayak Tours - Kayaks on Hahei Beach

New Zealand is renowned for it’s spectacular natural beauty. Often the South Island is considered the headline act but if you think the North has nothing to offer you have obviously never been to the Coromandel Peninsula. Cathedral Cove kayaking is a must-do in New Zealand. The Coromandel tempts visitors with mild temperatures, pure white sand beaches, impossibly clear aquamarine waves, craggy cliffs and dramatic rock formations. Mother Nature has a wicked sense of humour and makes her most special creations just inaccessible enough so only the truly dedicated get to enjoy their majesty. Getting from Whitianga to Cathedral Cove is a little tricky but kayaking Cathedral Cove is well worth the effort. Cathedral Cove can only be reached by foot or boat and the best way to get there is with Cathedral Cove Kayak Tours. The paddling is easy, the guides are knowledgeable and the scenery is breathtaking. What are you waiting for? Read on for all the details …
