Girls Day Out: Fresh Fashion LinkUp 13
Hey there and welcome to another FFF. Did I mention I was on holidays? WooHoo! Two whole weeks off and I am trying to make the most of every single bit of it. I love spending the Christmas/New Year period with family and friends so even though I am not at work I am staying in Sydney during my break which has given me an excellent excuse to spend more time with great friends. The Enabler and I decided to treat the mini-enablers to a girly day out and despite Sydney’s bleak weather (where are you summer?!?) we decided on lunch at the iconic Bondi Icebergs with a bit of shopping thrown in afterwards at Westfield Bondi Junction. Festive Lights: Fresh Fashion LinkUp 12
With just days until Christmas, I’m enjoying some much needed time off work and spending a lot of time socialising with friends which hasn’t left a lot of time to take outfit photos so I thought I would share one of my favourite holiday traditions and the outfit that I wore to my dear friends annual Christmas BBQ. In The Navy + Mustard: Fresh Fashion LinkUp 11
Hello again and welcome to another Fresh Fashion Forum. As we inch race closer to Christmas life is getting super hectic but thankfully I have some much needed annual leave coming up shortly so I’m willing myself to get through this one last trip to Melbourne and the few remaining work days until I can put my feet up. Who am I kidding, I’m not going to be putting my feet up until the fat man has come and gone and I have cleaned up every last dish and plate, so therefore boxing day, or possibly the day after depending on how much celebrating I do lol. Because life is hectic I’m keeping it super simple on the blog today and introducing you to my favourite four legged friend. Read on for all the details …
Gladiators & Blue Jeans: Fresh Fashion LinkUp 10
Remember when I told you the other day that I was on the search for a pair of destroyed boyfriend jeans? Well I’ve sort of found what I wanted. I found these relaxed light wash boyfriends for a bargain price, the only problem is that they are not destroyed. So you can see my dilemma, they ticked every box but one. Well, given I am a pretty resourceful kinda gal, I figured I would buy them anyway and destroy them myself. Seriously how hard can it be? Anyway before I took to them with the shears, I thought I would show them here in their original state for my first time ever wearing a relaxed fit boyfriend jean. Of course, I will be sure to feature them again after I have worked my magic … Assuming everything goes to plan lol. Read on for all the details …
Hot In The City: Fresh Fashion LinkUp 9
Well hello Summer! I’m so glad you are back 🙂 Summer is without a doubt my favourite season of the year and December officially marks the start of Summer in Sydney. I love everything about it … well almost everything, you can keep all the bugs but other than that I’m in my sweet spot every time the mercury tops 30c (86F). I wore this outfit yesterday when the temps were nudging 40c (104F) throughout most of the city and I thought icy blue printed pants were the perfect way to welcome the season. I was smitten with these pants from the moment I clapped eyes on them and you know how much I love baby blue. Where I live in Sydney is very close to an Army base and I’m a big supporter of our brave service men and women who do so much to defend the freedom that we enjoy and today’s location is Light Horse Park about 5 minutes away from my house which has a beautiful bronze sculpture honouring the Australian soldiers of WW1 and their trusty steeds. Sadly, when the soldiers returned home they were not permitted to bring their horses home due to Australia’s strict quarantine laws and the costs of repatriation. However, there is always an exception to the rule and Major General Sir William Bridges’ dying wish after being wounded in battle was that his best mate Sandy be brought home to Melbourne. Unfortunately approximately 136,000 other horses were left behind, leaving their handlers heartbroken. I bet you weren’t expecting a history lesson with your link up today! And The Winner Is … Fresh Fashion LinkUp 8
Me! I mentioned a little while ago on the blog that I had a special event coming up, well the night finally rolled around on Saturday and the hubs and I got to don our glad rags and head out for a night on the town. The event was an awards dinner for my work and we decided to make a night of it and splurge on a city hotel room afterwards. The weather did not play nicely and after hitting 45c (113f) on Thursday, Saturday was miserable, overcast and 20c (68f). I try not to leave things to the last minute but I ended up having to buy this navy lace cocktail dress on the day of the event and I cannot believe it only cost me $99. What a steal! The right underwear can make or break a dress and I thought I had packed a strapless bra in my overnight bag but sadly I had not. Oh well, I don’t think the straps were that noticeable through the lace given the lights were turned down fairly low. I paired it with my Sweeti sandals but because we still had a reasonable walk to the venue from our hotel I threw on a pair of things to make it bearable. The venue was spectacular and I would have loved to be able to share lots of photos with you but sadly I lost my iphone last Thursday and am still waiting on a replacement. It just wasn’t practical to lug the DLSR around all night so the only onsite photos I have were of us hamming it up in the photo booth which was a whole lot of fun. It also occurred to me that despite blogging for over a year now, I have never featured Sydney’s most famous icons in a post and it was about time I rectified that. These photos were taken in Circular Quay with the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House, Museum Of Contemporary Art Australia and the Overseas Passenger Terminal as the background. I really do love our harbour, it is spectacular on a sunny day but you will just have to take my word for that! While all these photos were taken in Sydney, I’m in Melbourne again for work for the next three days which will be super hectic and I’m counting the days until Christmas when I have a little time off! Double Denim: Fresh Fashion LinkUp 7
As this post goes live I’ll be approximately 11,000 metres in the air and just under 3 hours from touching down in Sydney after spending the last two days in Perth for work. Perth is pretty much as far away as you can get from Sydney and still be in Australia. Today I’m featuring the outfit(s) that I wore on Sunday. It was such a busy, but extremely rewarding day. I spent the morning and afternoon at the Mini Enablers dance concert. They had a ball and so did we (cute pics below!). I headed home to snap these pics in 10 minutes flat in the backyard where my kangaroo paws are in full bloom. I was in such a rush I forgot to add any jewellery, which is very unlike me but hey ho, there things happen! I then headed into the city for dinner with one of my readers and a fellow blogger who was visiting Sydney from Chicago. Robin blogs over at This I Do For Me and is amazingly inspiring. She is embracing life post 50 and is just one of the sweetest people I have ever met. I know that we will be keeping it touch. Given I did not have a lot of time to transition my look from day to night, I simply changed up by double denim day look by switching my shoes and jacket. Read on for all the details …
