The first time I visited Vietnam I researched just about every hotel trying to figure out where to stay in Hoi An. It was exhausting! On my second trip I was a little bit more savvy about the best area to stay in Hoi An, but booking the perfect Hoi An hotel still takes time and patience. Especially if you are looking for the best price. I’m currently planning my third trip to Hoi An and I thought I would enlist some help from my fellow travel bloggers to recommend some of the best places to stay in Hoi An. I love all of their suggestions!
Beachfront Bliss @ Impiana Resort Chaweng Noi: A Koh Samui Luxury Hotel
Thailand is the perfect place to travel in luxury for less. Even with an abysmal exchange rate (AUD$1 = ~฿22.50), Thailand offers amazing value. I’ve been to Thailand four times, but it’s a big country and each time I go I make a point to explore somewhere new. The Hubs and I recently made our first visit to Koh Samui. The first order of the day was to find a luxury hotel in Koh Samui that ticked all our boxes and came in under our budget of AUD$200 a night. No easy feat. From the very start of the planning process, I recognised that we would need to make some compromises as our dollar didn’t buy as much in Koh Samui as it did in Koh Lanta and Krabi where we also spent a few nights each. We concentrated our search in the areas of Chaweng, Chaweng Noi and Lamai as location was not one of the compromises I was prepared to make. I surveyed all the options and had about ten properties on the short list before I dragged The Hubs into the process. We slowly whittled down the list and after much deliberation, The Hubs and I chose the Impiana Resort Chaweng Noi. We second guessed ourselves several times, but we were delighted with our stay at this fabulous Koh Samui luxury hotel. Find out why …
Searching For The Best Gili Trawangan Villas? Try Villa Nero
Wondering where to stay in Gili Trawangan? You are in the right place. Not so long ago I was in exactly the same predicament. I did a lot of research on the best place to stay in Gili Trawangan before deciding on Villa Nero Gili Trawangan. You might think that Gili Trawangan villas are plentiful, but you would be wrong. On closer inspection it seems Gili Trawangan accommodation favours the backpacker set. Sure an ancient budget bunk was fine in my 20’s, but for this trip I was interested in modern up-spec Gili Island villas. I know that the Gilis are popular with the younger crowd but surely us oldies aren’t completely excluded? I was close to giving up hope of finding any Gili T villas to meet both my standards and my budget when I stumbled across Nero Villa Gili Trawangan. Chuffed with my find, I booked without hesitation. Palms City Resort Darwin: Resort Style Serviced Apartments in Darwin City
Darwin is the perfect place to ‘winter’. While the southern states of Australia shiver from June to August, Darwin enjoys consistent temperatures in the low 30’s (that’s Celsius peeps!) during the winter months. After a particularly brutal June, The Hubs and I decided we needed a little warm in our lives and on a whim one lazy Sunday we booked flights to Darwin for the following month. With the transport sorted, our minds turned to finding the perfect Darwin city hotel. We knew we wanted Darwin waterfront accommodation so it made sense to start our search in the area near Bicentennial Park. Accommodation on Darwin Esplanade is plentiful so narrowing it down was no easy feat. We trawled through all the modern Darwin holiday apartments and the well-known chain hotels and even the lesser known motels in search of the right fit. After weighing up all our options, we chose Palms City Resort Darwin. While we don’t normally opt for self-catering, Palms City’s serviced apartments in Darwin really appealed. We were very impressed by our self contained accommodation in Darwin and I bet you will be too. Read on for all the details …
Need Forster Accommodation? Try Great Lakes Caravan Park Forster
I love the nostalgia of a road trip. My recent stay at the Great Lakes caravan park Forster brought back memories of my childhood when Mum and Dad would throw me and the dogs in the back of the unseatbelted, unairconditioned, unreliable Kingswood and drive from dawn til dusk on bitumen turned molten under the harsh Australian sun to some far flung caravan park in the middle of nowhere because it was cheap. I remember spending a lot of time on the side of the road listening to the stream of expletives that spewed from my Dad’s mouth while his head was buried under the bottle green bonnet. No wonder I can swear like a sailor! Later, as newly licensed, cash-poor teenagers, we would pool our pennies for gas, pile into one of our bangers and speed out of Sydney most Friday nights with an exuberance reserved only for the young. Those were heady days and we reveled in that joyous space between childhood and being a ‘real’ adult where you are invincible. 30(ish) years on, I itch to explore all the world has to offer and travel means boarding a flight to fancy rather than starting up the family car. With one exception. Our annual group trip. As we settled into our Forster accommodation, the menfolk unpacked the cars, the kids ran excitedly from one cabin to the next and I nursed a freshly poured wine while taking a moment to study the now laugh lined faces of those once carefree young women I road tripped with a lifetime ago. And I felt blessed. Blessed to still have them in my life. Sure it’s a harder to get together now. Gone are the days when we would simply ring around on a Thursday night to see who was ‘in’ for the weekend as none of us yet possessed (or even imagined) smart phones capable of instant group chat. These days our technology has improved but hectic schedules, kid’s weekend activities, shift-working husbands and a general level of exhaustion must all be juggled with military precision to find time to catch up. Even though my grown up boys have long since stopped tagging along, I still enjoy the simplicity of these trips and spending quality time with a group of pals I love with all my heart. Sunlight Guest Hotel Solves The Where To Stay In Coron Dilemma
I had a bit of a dilemma figuring out where to stay in Coron. Finding accommodation in Coron to support my mantra of travelling in luxury for less was more challenging than I anticipated. This was my first trip to the Philippines and I expected luxury hotels in Coron Palawan to be thick on the ground like other parts of Asia but sadly that was not the case. We only had two nights in Coron with lots to do so I started my search for places to stay in Coron in the city centre. After a quick glance at the options (and the lack lustre reviews!) and I expanded my search field to discover a new waterfront hotel minutes from the port. The Sunlight Guest Hotel Coron offered everything we needed and while not exactly a bargain by Asian standards, it certainly didn’t break the bank. Read on for all the details …
