Hey there! It’s so good to see you again for another Fresh Fashion Forum. This week I’m out to prove that neutrals don’t have to be boring in my camel pants and girly floral halter. I’ve been all about colour on the blog lately so I thought it was high time to tone it down a notch. I wanted to keep it fresh and light so I’m pairing the pants with my white floral halter. Well that and the fact that the number of weeks that the weather will let me go sleeveless are dwindling rapidly. Hey who can blame me for trying to get as much mileage as I can out of this halter while the weather lasts. Of course I threw on a cardi while I was in the office to cover the tatt. Gotta keep it professional you know! Read on for all the details …
Express Camel Pants
Camel pants are a staple and the colour tones are perfect for Autumn. I know a lot of blondes tend to avoid a camel/beige/nude palette for fear that it will wash them out, but I went there anyway. While the look is certainly muted, it is exactly what I was going for. That said, I almost didn’t post this today. I’ve had a particularly busy week at work and lets just say my 9-5 gig has been anything but, which is playing havoc with finding time to blog. On top of that, I had a particularly busy weekend and my official photographer (aka The Hubs) was working all weekend, which meant I literally 10 minutes to take these photos late on Sunday evening before we headed out to an anniversary dinner (23 years can you believe it!!!!). The thing about doing anything in a rush is that it rarely turns out well and I’m not particularly thrilled with these photos. The fact that daylight savings has now ended in Sydney means that it’s pitch black when I get home from work so there was no opportunity to have another crack at it. My boss will often say to me “sometimes done is enough, it doesn’t have to perfect”. Being a perfectionist this philosophy does not sit well with me and I will often counter with “if you are not going to do it well there is no point in doing it at all”. Anyway it is what it is and with not a lot of options left I decided to go ahead with the post. The scary part is that I have a hectic few months coming up and I don’t see life slowing down anytime soon, so I am not quite sure how I am going to manage fitting everything in. I just know it is my sleep time that is going to suffer. Oh well, they say sleep is for the weak!

Linda Hobden says
Neutrals definitely suit you! With my beige summer trousers I do tend to opt for a bright colour top – red is a particular favourite of mine! Might have to try plain white this summer though! ?
Sydney Fashion Hunter says
I’d love to see it when you do Linda ?
Suzy says
I think the photos are great! I haven’t got a pair of camel trousers yet, I keep looking but so far have failed to find any that suit me! I love the way you’ve styled them. LOVE that top!! Gorgeous 😀

Sydney Fashion Hunter says
Thanks Suzy and you are way to kind! I have that kind of look on my face that says ‘Oh FFS let’s just do this and be done’ which is not ideal but you know what bloggers are real people too and I’m all for keeping it real. I love Express for work clothes! I’m on the train on the way home now but I think I’m going to sneak and order in when I get home before bed lol.

I’m with you, Allison, and haven’t had an opportunity to blog at all this entire week. Work has all but consumed my every moment and it’s been immensely challenging to find some time in between this that and the other to write something non related to my day job, let alone take pictures 🙂 in fact, I think I’ll find myself in a situation similar to yours later when I ask my daughter to take several outfit shots for me in between picking her up from a school event and rushing to cook dinner. It is what it is, indeed. Onto matters of clothing, although the palette is neutral, your floral top in its halter silhouette more than ups the ante xoxo
Sydney Fashion Hunter says
Thanks so much Sheela. It’s good to hear I am not alone. I asked my youngest son once to take some photos. Let’s just say that won’t be happening again any time soon. I will point out that he is 20 not 5 lol. Anyway one step at a time right!

They are seriously awesome I have about 20 pairs in different colours lol. I just need to lose the few kilos I have out on so they are not quite so right lol *sigh*

Never underestimate the power of a pair of khaki/tan pants especially if they fit perfectly like yours do. That halter top is so pretty and is the watch. I loved that you kept this look entirely monochromatic, Allison. =)

And your boss is right…because when is something really perfect? That being said, I love this outfit—the print of your shirt is lovely!
I consider my camel pants a necessity—I love them for pairing with my darker jackets to lighten things up!

Sydney Fashion Hunter says
Thanks so much Jodie! I’m exhausted just thinking about it all to top it off one of my staff members resigned today and because he is going to a competitor we don’t allow them to serve their notice and I had to formally escort him from the building. Now I’m going to be one down in my team for at least six weeks until I can recruit a replacement … What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger right!
Lanae Bond says
That is a versatile outfit you can wear to work by adding a blazer or wear for a nice dinner! Love your heels by the way!
Sydney Fashion Hunter says
Thanks Lanae. I have the perfect blazer for this outfit too I just didn’t feature it her ? Love these heels too they are probably the comfiest ones I own and so classic. Almond toe pumps are my absolute fav! Not as nanaish as round and more comfy than pointy. I would but them in every colour if they would let me!
