I love a good market. I’ve visited a tonne on my travels and one of my favourites are the Night Noodle Markets Canberra. The Canberra Night Noodle Markets are held annually in March as part of the month long Enlighten Canberra festival. I first visited in 2016 and The Hubs and I were so impressed we returned again in 2018. The Canberra Enlighten Noodle Markets are set to return to Australia’s Capital for the 5th time in 2019 so now is the perfect time to start planning your visit. Read on for all the details …
Canberra Balloon Spectacular: The Canberra Hot Air Balloon Festival
The Canberra Balloon Spectacular is one of Canberra’s premier events. Visitors who time their visit to Australia’s capital city to coincide with the annual Canberra hot air balloon festival are in for a real treat. The one thing that seems to be consistent with hot air ballooning around the globe is that dawn is largely considered the best time to lift off. I am not a morning person, but I did drag myself from under the doona at 5.30am on a cool autumn morning to catch a glimpse of these magnificent flying machines. In 2019 the Canberra balloon festival is on from 9 – 17 March so now is the perfect time to start planning your trip. Read on for all the details …
A Surprisingly Cool Weekend In Canberra
I know what you are thinking. Why visit Canberra? It’s been more than a decade since I last visited Australia’s Capital City and Canberra’s reputation as a sleepy, slightly backward town filled with politicians where nothing happens was firmly etched in my psyche, so shaking that perception was a tall order. Well not only did I visit Canberra but I was suitably impressed. Canberra is a city shaking off its daggy reputation and reinventing itself to emerge as a sophisticated, cosmopolitan city where there is much to love. So leave your perceptions behind and come explore the wide variety of things to do in Canberra with me …
Novotel Canberra: Escape To The Capital
The Hubs and I recently spent a long weekend in Canberra. Why Canberra? Well, The Hubs had a rare weekend off from his grueling roster and he wanted to escape on his beloved BMW two wheeler (more about that in my Biker Chick post here). The maximum amount of time that I can stand sitting on the back of the bike is 2½ hours so we stuck a compass in Sydney and looked at every place within the allotted radius. We discovered we had been to the vast majority of places within our search area and nothing appealed quite as much as Canberra for a return visit. When we discovered that our visit coincided with Enlighten Canberra it sealed the deal. It’s been more than a decade since we have been to Australia’s capital so we made sure we did our research on Agoda before choosing the Novotel Canberra as our home away from home for the two nights.
