I love a good market. I’ve visited a tonne on my travels and one of my favourites are the Night Noodle Markets Canberra. The Canberra Night Noodle Markets are held annually in March as part of the month long Enlighten Canberra festival. I first visited in 2016 and The Hubs and I were so impressed we returned again in 2018. The Canberra Balloon Spectacular is one of Canberra’s premier events. Visitors who time their visit to Australia’s capital city to coincide with the annual Canberra hot air balloon festival are in for a real treat. The one thing that seems to be consistent with hot air ballooning around the globe is that dawn is largely considered the best time to lift off. I am not a morning person, but I did drag myself from under the doona at 5.30am on a cool autumn morning to catch a glimpse of these magnificent flying machines. I know what you are thinking. Why visit Canberra? It’s been more than a decade since I last visited Australia’s Capital City and Canberra’s reputation as a sleepy, slightly backward town filled with politicians where nothing happens was firmly etched in my psyche, so shaking that perception was a tall order. Let’s just say I was less than receptive when the hubs first suggested a weekend in Canberra. I mean Canberra? What were we going to do for two days that could rival what Sydney offers?
