SHOWPO Cape Coat: Fresh Fashion Linkup 26

March 30, 2016

Sydney Fashion Hunter: Fresh Fashion Forum #26 - SHOWPO cape coat

Hello and welcome to a new Fresh Fashion Forum. This week I’m thrilled to be partnering with Showpo to bring you an item that I have been wanted to get my hands on for a while; the cape coat. If you have never heard of Showpo you are missing out! They started as Show Pony in 2010 from a garage in Sydney and being from my hometown is always going to score brownie points with me! While they may have had humble beginnings, Showpo has big plans and aims to be the largest online boutique on the planet. They offer a great range of quirky, fun and bang on trend items so you are sure to find something that tickles your fancy. The icing on the cake is free shipping if you spend over $50 (Australia and New Zealand) or $75 (rest of the world). Read on for all the details …

SHOWPO Cape Coat

If the love the look of a blazer casually draped over your shoulders without the hassle of it constantly slipping off then a cape coat is perfect for you! I chose the pink Showpo Take Over Blazer (no longer available) but it also comes in white and black for a more classic look. I was originally going to go all girly with my styling and feature a lot of white with a hot pink splash of colour but I decided I really wanted to add some edge to the jacket’s soft feminine feel. I think my Sash & Belle fringed bag and black gladiators were just the ticket. I stuck to black accessories so as not to over complicate the look. I’m not sure if I have ever confessed to you guys that I am a really crap ironer. And I mean really crap. My two poor boys spent most of their childhood looking like homeless kids given the required school shirts would wrinkle as fast as you looked at them. I’m aware of my deficiency and smarter with my purchases these days. Read: I avoid anything that requires ironing like the plague. So when my cape coat arrived a little crumpled from transit I was filled with dread. I almost popped over to my mum in laws who is a whizz with an iron in hand and would have had it sorted in 5 seconds flat but I persevered. While I think I did kinda OK in the end it took me over an hour (no joke!) and the many angles on the intricate cut of the blazer had me well and truly scratching my head. Luckily for my the soft crepey fabric is not prone to creasing with normal wear and given I’m not planning on shipping it anyway soon I think I will be just fine. If not, my MIL is only 20 minutes away and really I don’t see her nearly as much as I should. You can check all Showpo’s outwear here.

Thanks for the advice!! I was worrying that LA and SF might not be so exciting. San Diego was on my possible list too. Seattle was another option. We went to New York back 2008 and loved it. Maybe it’s time we went back there? We do like hiring a car and doing a long drive so maybe we ought to do New York and then head north, visiting Boston and some of New England? Aaaaaargh…. decisions., decisions!! At this rate we’ll probably end up going to England again LOL!!!

Last trip we started in Hawaii. Flew to Dallas. Flew to New Orleans. Hired a car and drove from New Orleans to Tampa with an overnight in Destin. We then took a cruise from Tampa which was awesome and so cheap compared to what we pay! Then we hired another car and drive to Orlando to do the theme parks. Flew to Washington and then drove to Baltimore. Flew to NY. Flew to Vegas. And then flew home from LA (business class no less – with points I would never pay for it lol) 5 weeks in total and we renewed our vows Elvis style in Vegas for our 25th wedding anniversary ?

New Orleans is on my bucket list but Michael isn’t so keen! We haven’t decided yet but we were thinking maybe San Francisco and then drive down to LA – after going to Universal Studios in Florida a couple of years ago, I’d love to try the one in LA!!
The problem is, Michael’s got a thing about mountains so we might have to go somewhere cold and snowy!!!

San Francisco and LA were OK but defo not my faves in the US and The Hubs hates Florida lol. It you are on the East Coast San Diego is wonderful! Next trip we have to do Seattle and The Hubs is a Seahawks fan and wants to see a home game. Only problem with that for me is that football season means winter and Seattle is Freezing. New York is amazing is you haven’t made it their yet.

OMG you’ve got so much fun planned! I’m so envious lol! We always holiday in the winter (here) so that would work out great to come visit AUS then 😉
Actually this year I’m doing an intensive residential yoga teacher training course in October (pretty much for the whole month) here in Portugal and then for our winter holiday we’re thinking about the US again – what a surprise lol!

Thanks so much Suzy. My poor kids when they were growing up *cringe* Primary school was fine cos the shirts were polls and don’t need ironing but high school they were cotton shirts like business shirts. Hell at one stage I was thinking of changing school just for a better uniform lol but then I just decided they could go to school wrinkly and damn the consequences! I pretty much have never ironed since! Now if it really really needs ironing it goes to the dry cleaner ?

Definitely! I have always wanted to go to the Algarve. I almost made it when I was backpacking through Europe a lifetime ago (96 I think?). I’ve been back to Europe a few times but never made Portugal ? I think it will be a while before we head back there as we tend to holiday in SE Asia (it’s close and cheap!) and The US (I just love the shopping lol) but if we ever make I am defo looking you up! My hubs can hire a bike and we can all go for a ride!

We go to Maroochydore in April, Hamilton Island in June, Hawaii in July/August and Bali in October. We also went to Bali in Feb but that seems like a lifetime ago lol. It’s gonna be a hectic year!

That cape blazer is gorgeous. Now I want to order it but I am torn between the black or the white. Is the material nice and well made? I love the soft pink one you got and how you paired it with all black so it definitely stands out. I have always loved those gladiator shoes but I must say the clutch and watch are beautiful, too.

I have started a linkup on Thursdays, Alison I would love for you to join it and if you could add it to your linkup page, I truly appreciate it.
