Famous for the view, the Rock Bar Jimbaran Bali is one of the most unique bars in the world. Cut into craggy cliffs the bar is nestled below the swanky Ayana Resort and has been delighting guests for years. Cocktails are the order of the day and the bar list offers something for most. The views at sunset are the star of the show and despite its expansive size tables fill quickly. A hidden secret this is not! Read on for all the details …
Rock Bar Jimbaran Overview
The Rock Bar Jimbaran meanders along the coastline and is much larger than it originally appears but an intelligent layout has allowed for the space to be broken into smaller more intimate areas. Timber decks hug the rugged coastline of volcanic rock joining each section seamlessly. Patrons can choose tables or bar seats and relax as the waves crash dramatically into shore erupting salty foam in the air. Each table is strategically angled to ensure guests are well positioned to take in the main event; the magnificent sunset across the Indian Ocean. Rock Bar Jimbaran is incredibly popular and if you want to catch the view expect to wait in line for the travelator that takes you down a steep incline to the platform below. You can of course take the stairs down like we did if you don’t fancy the queue.
Drinks
Drinks run high for Bali but the cocktails offer the best value. Except to pay similar to what you would pay in Sydney, around $18 a pop. I can never go past a Lychee Martini and Rock Bar Jimbaran offered a near perfect version. The Hubs is not really a cocktail drinker but got into the spirit ordering a fruity concoction called ‘Rock My World’ that bizzarely was served in a mug.
Nibbles
Sunset in Bali is around 6pm and way to early for dinner for us but the snack menu at Rock Bar Jimbaran offered sophisticated bites that are perfect to share. We chose the feta saganaki with honey dipping which was delicious modern take on the Greek favourite. The tartness of the Feta paired perfectly with the sweet honey and the bite sized morsels were gone in a flash.
