I have green eyes. For as long as I can remember people have been trying to get me to wear more green. Particularly olive green. I have resisted with a passion because it has never really been my thing. Until I saw this olive cowl neck top in Banana Republic which I had to have. I was drawn to the cut and soft draping immediately and I knew it would be perfect for the office. Read on for all the details …




 

Black Mood

During non-daylight savings time Sunday is the only day I can take photos. I can’t be arsed to get up early before work and it’s dark when I get home, so Sunday it is. The Sunday just gone I was in a ‘mood’ and the last thing I felt like doing was trying on a million combinations to come up with the ‘perfect’ OOTD. Truth time; I’ve put on 8 kilos and I feel like crap. Sunday was a real low and was beating myself up for letting it get this bad, which of course had me raiding the pantry for more chocolate. We all have days like these where we would love to wrap ourselves in a blanket of self pity but we have to soldier on. My gloom meant for a disastrous photo shoot and I almost binned all the pics but in the interests of keeping it real I decided to post them anyway.

Olive Cowl Neck Top & Black

I did what women the world over do when they just can’t but have to anyway. I grabbed all my favourite black, threw it on and hoped for the best. Prada and Dior usually lift my spirits but even they didn’t help. I bought this olive cowl neck top in Hawaii but hadn’t even snipped the tags off until Sunday. I spied it in my still unpacked suitcase as I stormed to my room to get ready for ‘photo day’. More truth; I got back from Hawaii a month ago, Suzy homemaker I am not! In my funk I honestly had no inspiration or inclination to think about what I was wearing so I just grabbed it and threw it in the mix. While the top is lovely it didn’t do my mood any favours when it went all clingy in all the wrong places. Sometimes done is better than perfect.

  2. I’m sorry to hear that you had bad day. But true is that we all have sometimes such days. Do you know what I do? I enjoy every miserable moment. I sleep if I can, I cry if I want…. I let myself to be weak. And than it just ends and it is all right in the world again.

I can definitely sympathise with you on having one of “those days” – it seems like nothing feels or looks right but looks great to everyone else. I usually take a nap (if I can) when I feel crappy, being tired makes everything seem worse. Shopping for shoes helps too 🙂

  11. Allison, you are beautiful and I love the green on you! Wearing it with black really makes the green stand out. I like those tops with the cowl neckline. It is always hard to come back from a vacation and get back into the routine. But you did it and maybe you’ll even get your suitcase unpacked. We are all busy women, so don’t get down on yourself too much. When you need a break take it and be thankful for whatever blessings you have that day. I’ve found that really changes my mood.
