Who doesn’t love a burger? These simple sandwiches can be absolutely divine if done right. I like my burgers home made and a world away from fast food. We were intrigued by the signature charcoal buns and we had extremely high expectations of Black House Burgers Kuta after they were rated the number 1 of 717 restaurants in Kuta Bali on Trip Advisor after 688 reviews. Did they stack up? Read on for all the details …
Black House Burgers Kuta
This would be the perfect establishment for a quick bite at lunch but it doesn’t open until 3pm which I find odd. On the other end of the spectrum, local restaurants seems to close early but I did manage to find a few late night options to include in my epic list of 110+ amazing things to do in Bali. Black House Burgers was founded in 2014 by two backpackers with a love of food who created a simple burger menu that has become incredibly popular. Make no mistake, this is nothing like your local Macca’s! The signature black buns are made fresh daily in house and while unusual didn’t taste much different to a regular bun to me. One of the more unusual toppings on offer was banana which I initially ordered on the side before dumping it on at our servers insistence. I was anxious about this strange addition but I shouldn’t have been as there was so much else going on with the burger that the flavour was lost. The burgers are super juicy (i.e. messy) so leave your table manners a home and just get stuck in. The Hubs went for the ‘make me cry’ burger which certainly turned up the heat! The only alcohol on offer was Bintang, so I had a refreshing watermelon smoothie. The chips were great and we ate every singe one! While we had a pleasant meal here, I don’t think I’ll be rushing back anytime soon.

I was a little worried when I saw the black buns, it’s great they taste like regular buns though, panic over! I think I’d have gone with a juice too with the burger, I’m not a huge beer and burger fan. The spicy make me cry burger sounds a bit hot but I’d have to try the banana in there even if I took it out after a bite. Being a burger foodie I’ll definitely try this place out in Bali.
